Week 7 – A Week To Forget…

My Helmet Design Summit Point Raceway

My poor season continues with some dreadful racing at Summit Point Jefferson. It seemed to be mission impossible to get through these races without collecting incidents. Just when I thought I would get through a race incident free, I’d just a nudge to my gearbox and a 4x. I kept going back though, trying to run a good race, but the end of it was a big chunk off my iRating and SR stats for the week.

5 races, 24 incidents and an average of 69 points.

Week 6 – A New Bogey Track……..

My Helmet Design VIR

Racing the Skip Barber in season 4 has seen me having to learn lots of new tracks, and as such this takes a fair amount of time. This season I am trying to race as much as I can so I am entering races when I am comfortable and safe, but not necessarily fast. So this trend continued and when we arrived at VIR South I found my pace several tiers behind my current iRating.

I just couldn’t get to grips with the track really. I had a fair and consistent pace but was several tenths back from my usual rivals. I guess some tracks work for you, and some simply don’t!

I had two races (both were great fun) and fell short of my 100-point-a-week goal. Hopefully it’ll be a drop week at the end of the season.

I also dived into a late model race on Saturday with a lightly developed setup. It was pretty tight and painful to drive towards the end. I think I scored around 50 points or so… not really invested in that series to be honest, the races aren’t as much fun as the trucks or road cars, but I’ll still try to get eight weeks worth of results in.

Onto the next week!

My Helmet Design Laguna Seca

This weeks 24 Heures du Fun looks like it’s going to be excellent – 46 car fields at Laguna Seca, and mixed class racing! The Legends, Skip Barber RT2000 and Solstice are going to be on the track all at the same time for an unknown number of laps.

I’m definitely going to try and get into the first race session seeing as that might be the easiest one to get a large grid. I can’t imagine how crowded the track will be with (potentially) 46 cars on it. I hope to see a good split of drivers choosing all three cars.

I would initially choose the Skip Barber but maybe not, as most people will probably do so. Instead I might go back to the Solstice but I fear that it’ll not have many other cars to race.

Decisions, decisions……
